Recent Comments A Hunch on Grand Canyon Area Trip Planning, inc. Airport and Side Trips? Dangerous M

We re considering going to the Grand Canyon (South Rim) in late March next year during our 6th grader s spring discount alaska cruise tours break. We re coming from the east and could fly into Phoenix or Las Vegas. We d probably have 5 full days, not including travel days. We re renting a car.
We re not going to see Las Vegas or Phoenix this time, but we would like to see some sights within driving distance from the Canyon. We ll need to return to whichever airport we fly into. Any recommendations about this?

While the N. Rim is closed in winter US 89A that goes from Bitter Springs AZ over the the N.Rim via Jacob Lake AZ and down to Fredonia AZ is open and I ve never seen as chains required posting on it in late March
