It would be horrible if they got to Florida and then didn't like the place they'd picked out for their dog to stay at. Then they'd advantage auto rental have a big problem. They really wanted a place in FL so they could have him in the car with them on the trip down and back home. Another reason was because they wanted the option of a day camp so they could drop him off and pick him back up every night and or just having him close just encase anything happens to him.

If they are planning on staying in a Disney hotel, none of them allow pets. They would not have the option of picking advantage auto rental him up at night and having stay with them. They would have to find other lodging in the area that accepts pets.

For what it's worth, I read lots of reviews on Best Friends and got mixed reviews, not to mention calling and comparing what their costs cover. We are leaving our four legged family members Minnie and Bolt (cat and dog respectively) at Happy Paws Pet Resort. It's near home and they seemed MUCH more hands on and loving with the animals advantage auto rental and they cater to animals who are skittish of new people, like our Bolt. I'm sure Best Friends isn't bad, it just wasn't for us. My point is to have your family check with places near home so they can see first hand how they act and handle the animals. Good Luck!

I can sort of understand the desire to be near in case something happens to him - but wouldn't it be more important that the dog is near his/her vet? As an owner, I really can't do anything to help my Buster if he gets ill, but his vet, who has all his records and has seen him since he was 6 weeks old can.

Just my two cents. I know some people think differently, and that's okay. I'm just having a hard time understanding the desire to have a large dog in the car with me that long. I was going to say this very thing, but you said it first.

Unless I was staying in a rental house that allowed pets (are there any in Orlando?), I would not take my pet with me. Wouldn't it be better for the pet to have a petsitter come by and check on it several times a day at its own home? My DD did this for a job this summer and for the odd weekend here and there. The dogs loved having someone come play with them, sit with them, walk them, feed them, in their own home.
